The best immersion courses for senior managers

RIVERSDOWN HOUSE, HAMPSHIRE

Welcome to the gentle hills of the South Downs National Park in Hampshire, home of Riversdown House, a wonderful residential language training centre for professionals. The maximum intake is 10 clients.

Riversdown offers a rich other-worldly English experience where Downton Abbey meets Jane Austen with a touch of Agatha Christie (without the murders). Top class comfort and training. But be prepared to be challenged daily by the intensive courses and your dedicated trainers. By the end of your stay, your English will have jumped to a new level. And you may also have improved your golf swing, read some Jane Austen and sat at King Arthur’s legendary roundtable.

Yes, it’s pretty amazing!

Everyone learns better when they are relaxed. The full-time chefs prepare delicious meals enjoyed in the superb dining room, which dates back to 1328. There is a nine-hole golf course, a fitness suite, tennis courts and cycle tracks. If you are feeling less energetic, there is a billiard table, a traditional Finnish sauna and plenty of comfortable chairs in the lounge.

But, it’s not a holiday at Riversdown House. You will be speaking English every minute of your waking day, from breakfast until bedtime. It is the ideal training centre for senior business and professional people, who need to improve their confidence, fluency and range of English quickly. Riversdown is at the crème de la crème of English language training centres.

Courses run from Sunday evening to Saturday morning.  Popular visits include Cambridge, Bath, Oxford and Highclere Castle, where the TV series Downton Abbey was filmed. Even Downtown Abbey will look a bit ordinary after Riversdown House.

"Riversdown House is not just a professional English training centre, but a historic and charming English mansion. But be warned: You will be speaking English every minute of the day, from breakfast until bedtime. In addition, the food is delicious and the region is beautiful. It was a rewarding language experience as well as a rich networking experience with both the international mix of participants and the top quality trainers. It exceeded my expectations. I hope to be back soon."

- Manuel Arango, Chief Risk Officer, Pictet Group
