The Cambridge Linguaskill Business exam is an international test of business English. The exam tests how well you communicate effectively in the workplace and understand work-related topics. It focuses on activities in business and corporate settings such as meetings, presenting, evaluations, summarizing, analysing information and report and email writing.

It is an online test and adaptive, which means it is more personalized and challenging for all levels. There are four modules – listening, reading, writing and speaking. You can take any combination of the modules, depending on your objectives. It tests ability from B1 to C2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

How can I prepare for Linguaskill Business?

We can help you to develop your knowledge of business vocabulary, grammatical structures and improve your skills in business communication, both spoken and written. You will improve reading and listening skills, how to recognise paraphrasing ideas and understand and clarify vocabulary.

You will need to be comfortable typing answers, recording spoken responses and managing your time. Practising test tasks on the computer is also vital to understanding the structure and layout.

What skills do I need for Linguaskill Business ?

For the speaking part of the test, you need to be able to develop and explain ideas when speaking and present a clear opinion or argument, support your ideas with examples and give recommendations. You will listen and summarise audio, as well as read text and evaluate it verbally.

For the reading, you need to practise reading quickly for general information, scanning for specific information and reading in detail.

For the listening, you also need to understand the general idea and listen carefully for specific information and detail.

For the writing section, you need to be able to write a business email and also a report about a professional topic, connecting your ideas well and ordering your points logically.

How long is the exam ?

The reading and listening parts are between 40 and 59 minutes, the speaking is 16 minutes and the writing is 55 minutes long.

There are registered exam centres in Geneva and other cities in Switzerland where you can take the exam.
