A summer language camp is much more than English lessons. It is a chance to grow in confidence, make international friends and discover a new culture. For many teenagers and young adults, a séjour linguistique is a first step towards independence and potential future study and work abroad.

English plus activities

Many teen courses combine English with sport or creative activities. Students generally study in the morning and take part in activities in the afternoon.

Options include:

  • Multi activity programmes
  • Tennis, football, rugby, volleyball, hockey and golf
  • Horse riding
  • Theatre, music and drama
  • Coding, AI and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematic) subjects
  • And much more

For example, in Ireland we work with schools offering excellent programmes in Cork with rugby, golf, football, horse riding and STEAM options, and in Dublin for ages 16 to 19, including a STEM course. In England, Scotland and Wales, we also work with schools across the country offering a wide range of activities in wonderful locations.

Study in outstanding locations

One of our excellent partner schools based in Wimbledon organises junior and teen summer camps on beautiful traditional boarding school campuses with excellent sports and academic facilities. They will study and enjoy activities in safe and beautiful environments, ideal for young learners.

For something different, there is a teen summer camp in New York where lessons take place outdoors in exciting (and often famous!) locations around the city. Students stay in a modern residence and explore New York in the afternoons. There is also a two-week young adult course in July for ages 18 to 22, perfect for students who want more independence.

Academic and future focused courses

Some programmes are designed for ambitious students.

At one of our top schools in London, there is a highly regarded young adult course for future global leaders and entrepreneurs.

With another one of our partners in Cambridge, students can try university style subjects before applying to uni. This is a good way to explore interests and gain confidence in an academic setting before making important course decisions.

One of our favourite schools in Cambridge offers year-round courses for ages 14 and over, and we also work with a trusted school in Eastbourne with courses throughout the year.

Why choose a summer camp abroad?

A summer course helps students:

  • Improve their English quickly through daily use
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Experience a new culture
  • Make friends from around the world (that they often keep in touch with for life!)
  • Discover possible future study or career paths

For many young people, it is a life changing experience. They return home more mature, motivated and open minded. And with improved English skills!

At The Language House, we help families choose the right destination, course type and level. We stay in close contact before, during and after the stay, so students and parents feel supported at every step. Contact us on This email address is being protected from spambots.
