L'ANNEE SCOLAIRE

I've been back home since 3 weeks now after 7 months in Australia. And I have to say, it was an absolutely wonderful experience! I enjoyed my life in Sydney so much! My homestay family, where I worked as an au-pair, was very nice with me and, even if sometimes it was a bit tiring to look after 4 lively children, I had a good relationship with the children. I wasn't maybe really involved in the family life, but on the other hand I got a lot of freedom to go out with my friends. I appreciated being independent.
Indeed, I met heaps of people from everywhere at the school, and we quickly became a sort of new family for each other! We often organised trips to Melbourne or other places for 1 weekend and I even travelled with a German girl friend on the East Coast for 2 weeks in June. I attended a course to pass the CAE exams in Global Village, and I got the Certificate with a good mark (77%). I think both the Cambridge preparation and the General English courses are quite good and I found the teachers very effective and fun!
I spent my last 2 months in Australia travelling around. As I said before, I travelled on the East Coast with a friend but also on my own (that was a big adventure for me, but everything was fine and I enjoyed it quite a lot!) and my parents also came for a few weeks. They rented a motor-home and we drove through the Red Centre from Canberra to Darwin and then Cairns. It was amazing! I loved Uluru and Kakadu National Park!
Well, now I must still get used to my Swiss life, and I miss Sydney a lot. But I'm going to start University in Lausanne next week, and I'm quite excited to start something new!
Thanks a lot for your help with my adventure in Australia!

Hello Garry
I arrived in Brisbane one and a half weeks ago. My homestay family is very, very nice. They're so friendly and helpful. Their two girls talk a lot with me. I think, I'll learn English quickly. :-)
Sorry for my mistakes in writing, my English is not very good yet ! I've seen a possum on a tree in the garden of my homestay family, it was great! I already like Australia and its habitants, I'm happy to be here. Last weekend I visited the Koala-Sanctuary, I touched kangaroos and held a koala. That day was perfect, it was a great experience! All this just to tell you that I feel very well here and especially in my homestay family. The school is good too - actually I'm looking for a job.
More news: Two weeks ago I was on a trip to Byron Bay & Nimbin. Byron Bay is a very nice place and the view form the Light House is really great! Nimbin is a strange city with a lot of old hippies. I liked it. I took some stunning pictures and sent them to my family ! :-)) Last Friday I went three days to Great Barrier Reef, it was awesome!
I went kayaking and snorkelling. I saw lots of beautiful and colorful fishes and also some sea turtles! On 31.12. I'm going on a trip to Sunshine Coast & Noosa. I'm looking forward to it.
Christmas was great. I've had lots of fun. My homestay family mum organized a big breakfast for the whole family. It was absolutely delicious ! Her father and sister with husband came over. Especially the girls were very excited. :-) It was strange to have such a HOT Christmas, I really enjoyed it ! In the afternoon I went swimming at Southbank with a Korean friend. It was a really great day. Hope your Christmas was nice too!
Postcard : I’m in Perth now and I absolutely love this town. The Advanced courses are difficult for me. I study a lot, but always take time to enjoy life. Yesterday it is was 41.8 degrees, the hottest day of my life! Luckily the beaches are so gorgeous here.
More news: Hello Garry,
How are you ? Hope it isn't too cold in Geneva !
I just want to send you some pics from Brisbane, Perth and my trips to the Koala Sanctuary, Fraser Island, Byron Bay & Nimbin, The Great Barrier Reef, Pinguin Island, a four-day-trip by car to southwestern Australia and Rottnest Island.
I enjoy my time in Perth, it's a lovely town and Amanda (my homestay mum) is very kind. The exams for the Advanced are getting closer and I have to study a lot. But I always take time for having fun and doing some trips. :-) We will see how it goes...
I wish you a very nice day and send you a lot of sunshine from Perth !

Best greetings

Hi Garry,
I've to apologize for the card I haven't sent yet...but I enjoy so much Australia that I forgot about it!!!
So I thought mailing you was a good way to tell you sorry but also to give you some news about me....
My FCE course was really good, I met a lot of people, and I had good time with them...and two weeks ago was the final exam...I think I did well but, it was more difficult than in class but not impossible...so now I think my English is quite good...I understand people when they're speaking together, and even if my grammar is not good every time when I answer, I think it's quite okay!!!
My host family is really great, like a second family, they're so nice, and I've a lot in common with one of the daughters, who is 30, but she's like a big sister...so yes, I love this family, and I'd like to stay here longer, but I miss my family also...
Today I began my CAE courses, it's much more difficult than FCE, but I'll work more and more to pass the exam, because I'd like to come back with the feeling that I'd completed all my goals...it will be great...
Last week I went to Sydney to visit a friend from my village, it was wonderful...this city is amazing so big in comparison with Perth...I walked around the city and the beaches...but I prefer Perth, because in Sydney there is all the nationalities except Australian people...and there is a lot of tourist and French speakers, so Perth is the city which suits me the best...so thank you for your good choice Garry...
I hope all is all right in Geneva, and don't worry I'll send you not one card, but two...because of my lateness...
That is a quick idea of my life in Australia...
Have a nice and cold day.
Best wishes
